Our number-one goal here is to help you attain the highest level of success in your passion, a passion we share with you � fishing. So who are we? Performance Tackle was founded in July, 1994 by me, Marc Higashi. At the outset, I wanted to be known as the premier custom rod builder of the West Coast � the guy building rods for the best charter captains, sport fishing boats and serious fishermen from Washington State to the tip of Baja California. I wanted to be the builder known for stretching the bounds of blank design, component application all the while listening to my customers about their needs and applications. To accomplish this lofty goal it was important to me to continue my education on rod design by fishing, listening to my customers and understanding everything there was to know about the manufacture of blanks and the components I�d be placing on the rods that would eventually come out of my shop. To say it bluntly, I had a full plate � but my appetite to make my customers happy overshadowed this task. As the shop gained notoriety as a prominent custom rod shop in southern California the need to venture into the mainstream tackle market became apparent. It was then I started to sell the reels to go on the custom rods and the line to go on the reels. And as our loyal customer base began to grow, so did our shop and so did our inventory. But a business is not rated solely by its owner � it�s rated by the entire staff. This is why it was important for me to bring in the best anglers to work with me. People who on their own accord are experts in the field of saltwater angling, freshwater angling and rod design. I am proud of my staff, their accomplishments on the water and their unselfishness when it comes to teaching our customers the intricacies of our passion. When you shop with us you get more than a product � you get a combined experience of more than 100 years of on-the-water experience we want to share with you. You also get people, anglers like yourself, that have experience with the latest in tackle from Japan and the famed garage tackle manufacturers of southern California � the real tackle innovators that have been changing the world-wide tackle industry for over 40 years. Since 1994 Performance Tackle has evolved from a custom rod company into an all-around specialty tackle shop specializing in the state-of-the-art in the industry. We have gone from a saltwater dominant mindset and evolved into the premier shop in the west for custom bass rods and tackle without losing our passion for the fish that inhabit the oceans of the world.
